BINDU YOGA FOR TODAY Contemporary Lifestyle Yoga for Men & Women Bindu Yoga has its roots deep within the ancient traditions of classical yoga but has evolved to suit the needs of today’s men and women of all ages. Janiece has developed a series of stages or progressions that lead the student towards attempting a more advanced posture. Poses are often modified for older students or to allow for the inflexibility of many western bodies. Different themes are offered for each term and the classes follow a format of postures, (including double yoga), breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation. Janiece can organise a class to suit any situation! She has taught yoga to the “Wallabies” rugby team, to world champion surfers, to children and the elderly, to the sick and paralysed. She has taught classes to a group of medical doctors and physios at the local hospital and to various health support groups. BINDU YOGA FOR WOMEN The Yoga Health Centre has conducted yoga classes for the people of Coffs Harbour area since 1982. The principal, Janiece Gilbert, is a qualified Yoga Master with the Australian Yoga Masters’ Association and has taught Yoga and Meditation for over 30 years. With so much experience to draw from she has created ‘Bindu Yoga for Women’. Under this banner she offers three main courses. “Ladies Only” Bindu is a Sanskrit word meaning, “a point from which all things manifest and to which all things return.” Bindu Yoga for Women encourages the powerful female creative energies to return to their source – the woman herself. Gentle and nurturing as well as dynamic and strengthening, Bindu Yoga is particularly suited to women caught in the rough seas of menopause. Selected postures, relaxation, breathing techniques and meditation help to balance hormone levels thus relieving many of the discomforts associated with this new phase of life. All women are welcome to attend the classes including those suffering post-natal depression or the varied symptoms of PMS. “Pre-Natal Yoga” Selected Yoga postures ease the discomforts sometimes associated with pregnancy and prepare your body for the birth. Empowering techniques for labour and delivery promote confidence in your ability to experience a natural birth. Partners are welcome to the last class to learn about their special supporting role and to share in the choice of natural birthing positions. Allow yourself to be gently guided and encouraged to enjoy your pregnancy as well as preparing both physically and emotionally for this exciting event in a friendly and positive environment. “Pre-Conception Yoga” Yoga can achieve powerful healing for conditions affecting reproductive health. Dedicated practise can benefit fertility and strengthen the body for the demands of pregnancy and childbirth. The selected postures tone and detoxify the organs and balance the hormones. Relaxation calms the emotions and meditation frees the mind of past conditioning that sometimes hinders realisation of present goals. Special techniques awaken the powerful female creative energy and bring a woman in tune with the natural rhythms of her body. Ancient yoga practices set the scene for conscious conception.
